Kyoshi Ante Brannbacka graduated from Hanshi McCarthy's tertiary Martial Arts instructors program (the first in its kind) at the College of Natural Medicine in Brisbane, Australia, in 2004
Kyoshi Ante Brännbacka represents Hanshi Patrick McCarthy (9th Dan) and the International Ryukyu Karate Research Society (IRKRS) in Finland, where he is responsible for having built an extremely strong following over the years. producing over 50 Black Belts over some 10 dojos.
In 2006 Kyoshi Brannbacka was invited to teach a weekend seminar in the UK with fellow graduate Olaf Krey Kyoshi, which was held at the High Wycombe Judo centre. The seminar was well received and indirectly led to the first KU dojo in the UK opening its doors in 2009.
In 2018 both Kyoshi Brännbacka and Krey delivered a second U.K. course hosted by the London Koryukan at the Somers Town Community Sports Centre where this years course again will take place.
The Somers Town Community Sports Centre is located in Camden at 134 Chalton Street London NW1 1RX. Somers Town covers a small local area surrounding Chalton Street, where the Sports Centre is located.
Bordered by the railway approaches of Kings Cross St Pancras Station, Somers Town gained some fame for its impressive list of notable residents and a number of films that are set there, most notably Shane Meadows 'Somers Town'.
